The Organization of Funchal Folk – Arraial do Mundo communicates that, unfortunately and despite all the efforts made until yesterday, we will have to cancel the Folklore Festival “Funchal Folk – Arraial do Mundo” in 2022, given that some of the invited groups (from outside the European Union) and who assumed the commitment to participate in this event were not able to obtain the necessary visas for entry into Portuguese Territory, in addition to the high cost of purchasing airline tickets for their arrival on Madeira Island, both for these Groups and for those belonging to the European Union.

This would, without a doubt, be a special edition as it is the first post-Covid and the first official one with the CIOFF insignia, and everything is prepared to carry it out, either with the support of the Regional Government, the Regional Directorate of Tourism and Cultura, from the Municipality of Funchal, from the Municipality of São Vicente, as well as from many other private partners who believe in this project and wanted to be associated with it.
